WHAT IS PredicTORTM?Using our L-IHC technology, PredicTORTM will be our first companion diagnostic test that will accurately predict the efficacy of molecularly-targeted therapies for the treatment of cancer. Specifically, PredicTORTM is a tissue-based in-vitro diagnostic assay that measures panels of biomarkers and will predict patient response to drugs that target, or are influenced by, the PI3K/AKT/mTOR signal transduction pathway in cancer. |
HOW DOES IT WORK?Traditionally, cancers have been defined by their tissue of origin. Now, it has become clear that treatments using targeted molecular therapy, may be better defined by “molecular profiles”. By measuring activity of specific target proteins and proteins both upstream and downstream of the targets, molecular profiles can yield insight into the aggressiveness of a specific tumor (prognosis) as well as indicate the best therapy or combination of therapies to treat a given patient (prediction) |

WHY IS IT NEEDED? |

| Currently, there are several targeted cancer drugs on the market and many others in late stage clinical trials, with almost every major pharmaceutical company developing these drugs that target or inhibit the mTOR pathway. Despite spending millions of dollars on R&D for these drugs, less than 20% will actually enter the stage of clinical trials. 20/20 has undergone discussions with several major pharmaceutical companies who have expressed their strong need for a test like PredicTORTM. Our test will benefit these companies in bringing their product through the development process by helping them select the best candidates for participation for their clinical trials. | ||
